2020.10.27 23:47 lekamie Review Chinese BL novel: Your Distance by Gong Zi You 公子优

Review Chinese BL novel: Your Distance by Gong Zi You 公子优
NU synopsis: https://www.novelupdates(.)com/series/your-distance/
Theme song: https://youtu.be/htL_lbThWZQ
It also has a manhua adaptation.
Cameo song in the novel but now it became my anthem: Das Beste by Silbermond. this part is so cute in the story, when you read to this you have to have this song in the background and then continue to read the story!! Remember to understand its meaning first before hand cuz the lyrics is so cute and fit perfectly into this story!!
95 chapters full of happiness, fluff and emotional ride. This novel is the love story between a 24 years old student and a 36 years old professor in a university in Germany. Both of these characters both have their lives before they meet each other in a peculiar encounter - they unintentionally perfectly matched with each other through a dating app, one is from his brother mischievousness and the other is from the droplets of water on his hair onto the screen (i know this is not technically possible but oh well, it would be like fate connected them together). TLDR at the end of this wall of text.
Really, their love story is not the one that filled with roses from the start to end. Their “first meeting” is quite funny and I am sure that you will keep grinning from chapter 1 to chapter 98 because of their interaction. You can see their love evolves from that of passion into that of gratitude and appreciation toward each other. They completed each other in their own way: the 24 years old student gives the 36 years old professor his long lost youth and innocence (or should I say naïveté), and vice versa, the older one gives the younger one his experience, his POV of the one who “nurture the humanity’s seed of future”.
One of the great thing about their relationship is communication! Because of their age differences, as a matter of course, they have different perspectives regarding their life. They talk with each other about their immaturity, their maturity, from “why are you always so childish” to “why are your exams so hard” (i quoted this quite weirdly but trust me, their answer is kinda philosophical and that impressed me the most), even the question what if one day we are separated by death, you have to read his explanation! It is truly magnificently beautiful. There is this kinda sentence somewhere near the end of the story that I just like it so so much (my quotation is not correct as I am remembering it from my goldfish memory ;;-;;):”My 24 is not as mature as you or as experienced as you, but I will catch up with you no matter what, by then we will be together”. Keep in mind that the prof is such a perfect figure (I dunt mind if I am isekai’d to have him as my husbando tho 🥺)
TLDR: Just read it you won’t regret it. I wrote this review in a serious tone but believe me, the novel is so much more cuteeee and I know that you will love it. If you are having a hard time in your life/relationship or feel that no one is on your side, just know that you will see you somewhere in this story and maybe, just maybe, the author’s portrayed philosophical thought will help you somehow.

2020.10.27 23:35 Moosiebwerry I need to talk about how much I love P5R.

3rd playthrough, and where do I even begin?! The music! The music in P5R is just chef's kiss e v e r y t h i n g. Every place, scenario and area has just an amazing piece attached to it. It's so immersing and there are times where I'll just sit and listen to the music because it's THAT. GOOD. For example: Layer Cake. I didn't full appreciate this song until a few weeks ago, but it's now one of my favourite themes. The buildup from when you first entire is just so...good! It sounds really menacing, just like Iwai seemed (if you do his confidant, I won't spoil however) and then it just goes into this chill beat. I don't know a whole lot about music, but just something about the mixes of different music (ESPECIALLY JAZZ) in Persona 5/Royal is just amazing! And even in the ending songs! There's only three? lyricised songs in P5, and 4 in P5R, but they never disappoint. Rivers In The Desert, Our Light, Whims Of Fate and Throw Away Your Mask all just blew me away. Lyricised songs (which aren't repetitive, like Life Will Change, Last Surprise and Take Over), in my opinion, really show the importance of a battle/moment/place, so when I heard Whims Of Fate for the first time, it really hyped up Sae's palace -I'll get into the palaces later. Whims Of Fate in itself is sung beautifully and I really have to give credit to Shoji and Lyn for producing such amazing songs. Anyway, like Whims Of Fate, Rivers In The Desert is a perfect hype song for a battle. Just the violin, vocals, lyrics, EVERYTHING. Just in general, the music is amazing.
The art! Mostly the concept/official art. Now, I'm an artist, and jesus christ is the art good. That one piece of Joker? When he's holding his mask and looking sideways at the camera? The shading on that piece is astounding. I love the way they characterise most of the characters. Their bodies, faces, fashion style etc. It really sets them apart, and I never had a thought that any two were the same.
Characters! Now, I have bias towards Ryuji, so keep that in mind. Like I said in my segment, the characterisation is amazing. I love how real some of the characters are. All fighting against some sort of stigma or issue, which helps them grow. My favourite example is Ann. From first glance she'd seem like some sort of ditzy, glam girl, but as you go through her confidant you see she's more than that. She's insanely real. The dedication she has to Shiho, becoming stronger and to the team is amazing. The same goes for a lot of the other characters. Makoto breaking away from the shadow of her sister, and coming into her own. Yusuke overcoming his slump after Madarame, Ryuji finding his passion again and finding where he belongs (if you've finished his confidant, Rank 9 was INSANELY cute. Let me date Ryuji god DAMN IT-), Futaba slowly and amazingly, overcoming her months of depression over feeling guilty over her mother's death, and becoming less socially awkward and more independant, Morgana, finally learning his purpose, and overcoming his bitch fi- I mean, his insecurities over whether he's worthy of the thieves, Haru and her finally standing up to her oppressors, and finding her own strength and goals. And finally, Akechi. Akechi is, in my opinion, brilliantly written. He's unapologetic, till the end, having a singular goal and never turning away from it, no matter the consequences. But at the same time, you can't help but feel bad for him. Had you and Akechi met, even just a bit before, maybe things would've turned out different. But they don't and I think it's (deliciously) heart-wrenching. I'm glad they expanded more on his character in P5R, so the buildup to his more important moments becomes even more gutting. I especially love the little segment at the Jazz club. The song that plays in the background, No More What Ifs? A perfect song for Akechi. I'd advise you go listen and read the lyrics to see what I mean. The confidants are amazing as well, with amazing stories and ideas that really set them apart from each other. The benefits are amazing too hehe.
The story! Now, I think parts of the story cough cough Okumara's Palace Arc cough cough brought down the story, but overall I think it's great. While playing through it a 3rd time, I went around Shibuya before Kaneshiro's palace, and boy was I surprised at the little hints they give you. Yes, you're in the knowledge of this already, but the fact you'll find little whispers of it around Shibuya is an amazing detail. I can't talk too much about it, since it's riddled with spoilers, but when everything starts coming together and the pieces all come into play? Blows my mind, everytime.
And finally, the gameplay + palaces. This is my first persona game, so for the gameplay I'm going to assume it's a win for all the Persona Games. Until persona I've never played an RPG game which left you with as many options as Persona 5. When I found out that all they gave me was a deadline and that was that, I was gobsmacked. Sure, you obviously had goals, but I love the freedom you have to go about it. There were little times I felt like I had nothing to do in my first playthrough, though that ran out now I'm into my third playthrough. 900+ hp, and only just finished the 3rd palace, all stats filled, only 4 confidants left, 97% left on my compendium and one trophy left have left me feeling pretty empty. My current thirst is to complete the thieves den (which is a great addition, by the way. Love having more to do, and having the ability to get the concept art, music and cutscenes is great). They always had you busy, regardless, which really helped with the planning your time element. I felt like I was actually planning out my irl day. I love the turn based gameplay. Buffing up your personas, as tedious as it can be at times (Man I remember sitting there and reloading JUST to get that perfect skill on a persona. The memories) is incredibly awarding, and I love the sense of achievement you get from it. The palaces are a whole nother thing. I took a look at some P4G gameplay, and what I love about palaces in P5 are how different the palaces are. The shadows are diffrentiated, the settings, music and puzzles never feel the same. For example, Kamoshida's Palace: perfect tutorial. Once the first bit is over, mostly everything is left to you. Not too long, the puzzles aren't overbearing and they perfectly let you get the hang of things. While now Morgana's tips and tricks annoy me, since I've got weapons strong enough to take out enemies without needing a persona or items, during the first playthrough they were actually helpful. Since it's the first time, the way they ease you into the tutorials doesn't feel entirely forced. Kamoshida himself is the perfect piece of shit, and, in my opinion, the most detestable character in the entire game. It was a delight to punch his teeth in during the boss fight. The addition of Shiho, the cum chalice and Ann being in his drink really set in stone how fucking disgusting he is, and the amount of pure satisfication from stealing his treasure was one I didn't have with other palace users. Hate and love the guy. All the others after that all have their own personal charm, and I love how you get to "know" each palace user. Really gives your actions more conviction. Especially the last palace in P5R. Gave me the chills.
In conclusion, Persona 5/Royal is my all time favourite game for these specific reasons. It really sets it apart from other RPGs and while it has it's flaws I love it very, very much.

2020.10.27 23:25 HeatWinter8752 K-Pop groups shouldn't sing in English if they can't pronounce the words correctly

Ok... please hear me out! I have absolutely no issue with K-pop groups singing in English (a reasonable amount), my issue isn't with the use of English, it's the pronunciation.
I imagine this will be unpopular because it'll probably be seen as criticism of the idols (which is why I didn't include many examples of instances where it's bad), but I promise it's not and I appreciate groups using English to connect with more international fans.
I'm a native English speaker so I find it incredibly jarring to listen to songs when I hear words pronounced incorrectly and it's no hate to the idols but I wish they either wouldn't use English or practice those particular phrases with a native or fluent English speaker.
Again, this isn't towards English in every song, the likes of Blackpink (I know they have native/fluent English speakers), Jungkook from BTS in the Savage Love remix, or Regular (Eng. Ver.) from NCT127 all sound pretty decent and I wouldn't know they don't necessarily speak English. I know these groups are helped by the fact that they have native or fluent speakers in their groups but that's good because it means the group members will be told if they're pronouncing something wrong and are helped practice their English or at least those particular lines.
But... some songs such as More & More from Twice I can't listen to because of the pronunciation of certain lines or pretty much the entirety of Mic Drop from BTS (this one I'm still able to listen to because it's so bad it doesn't even sound like English tbh and actually didn't realise it was in English the first dozen times I listened to it until I watched a lyrics video).
I just think it comes across as slightly forced when it's pronounced incorrectly or that the singer doesn't understand the meaning of what they're singing so I struggle to connect with the song itself.

2020.10.27 23:14 Skweekee is it normal to think the way i do? if not, should i talk to someone about it?

i cant seem to stop thinking that everyone has something against me. i dont know why im so paranoid. i have no friends and dont speak at school, so when anyone from my class randomly speak to me, i cant stop thinking they want to become friends with me, then use me and throw me away, so i always decline or stop the conversation to distance myself if they were thinking to use me, just in case. once, i was invited by someone i knew before to come to their house party with 3 other people, and i was so convinced they all were planning on killing me if i came, so i didnt come.
if a old friend reaches out, wanting to meet up really randomly, i cant stop thinking they want to kill me. it doesnt seem logical, but i really do believe it. i also cant leave my water bottle on my desk when im not there, because i keep thinking someones spitting in it when im gone.. i always remember where i put things, so that if someone were to touch something or do something suspicious, id know beforehand so i can be more cautious of my things.
i also avoid going out. when im outside, i cant stop thinking the cars are going to run me over, or that people in the cars are going to shoot me or throw something at me when they drive by. if i walk by anyone, im convinced they will stab me if they walk to close, or when theyre behind me, that they are going to shoot me in the head.
i get these kind of thoughts with my family 2, even though they all have nothing against me, and are really loving. i just cant stop thinking they're poisoning my food, spitting in it, putting hair or boogers in the food and sometimes think they want to kill me (not a common thought). i often watch my mother cook because of this, to pay attention if shes doing something suspicious. i know this makes me look stupid,, but i think so much about it. if i dont watch, i cant do anything else.
to stop myself from panicking when walking home from school, i listen to music loudly and focus on the lyrics. i listen to music in class (we're aloud, as long as we're able to pay attention) everyday, so sometimes i dont have enough battery (bluetooth headset) for when i walk home. i then feel sick, my throat hurting as hell as i cant stop the thoughts from becoming overwhelming, and i almost always end up tearing up on the way home.
Does everyone actually think this way, and just doesnt talk about it? or is there something wrong with me? i tried opening up about the 'thinking ill get killed when im outside' part with my mother, she told me i should talk to the school nurse (? i am not english) about it, but the last time i did that they told my parents about my ED thoughts around food and SH, when i only allowed her to talk about my issues at school, because she thought they had the right to know since it was a danger to my health. should i talk about this to someone? i feel like my 'problem' is not 'bad' enough to see a therapist. can age have something to do with it? im turning 18. i have no idea
sorry for wasting your time if you read this,,,

2020.10.27 23:12 Quantumyth The Quantumyth - Episode 5 - The Sisters

The Sisters
A QUANTUMYTH TALE BY ALBERT CHESSA
The quantumythic epic 'The Sisters' is the seventh of seven tales, related from The Arenku Scrolls by Urayosha,
a scholar-prophet and one of the timeless Resonants, translated into the readable (though abstract) 'audioptic runes' of that race.
The Arenku scrolls are, themselves, one of three so called 'artefact-tomes' that make up The Kaera Runava --
A compendium of twenty-one sagas, seven tales each --
which translates to 'transcriptions from the opened universe.'
The tale centres around two siblings, Kali, and her sister, Talma.
As with all Resonant tales, the setting is an undefined, unnamed place and time. The gender of Kali is not specified,
but for the purposes of this retelling, they are sisters.
The world has begun to die, the races of man are divided —
our communion with and respect for nature has been lost.
The two are the daughters of merchants, selling their wares from one run-
down settlement or city to the next.
One day, after a long journey across the sand-sea of Nalavar, their troupe begins erecting their bazaar in the town square.
The girls help with their part of setting up, and are given the all clear from their mother to go and explore, while the adults set up the rest.
The two run through the merchants, and Talma remarks to Tavi that despite the state of the world, she is always happy to see people come together at the marketplace:
'Is it not a beautiful thing, sister? The energy of one's fellow man, conversing, bustling, arguing, laughing?'
'You speak true, Talma. It's one of the fair sides of our lot in life.'
As the two head down a narrow bazaar alley, they notice the stalls becoming further and further spaced out.

Their young curiosity compels them forward, to see what lay at the end of the brightly lit alleyway.
At the final stall sits an elderly gentleman, his strange curios and wares splayed before him on a black velvet rug, holding a long pipe in his mottled hand. A cloud of smoke sits above him.
'Welcome young masters! I am Djuzah, and these are my wares. Browse away, and be well.'
Talma spots a box behind the old man, asking about it. He politely replies it is not for sale, but Talma is curious. The man gets more annoyed, and asks them to go away.
Later that night, Talma cannot help herself - she needs to see what's in that box. 'It called to me, sister - the strangest feeling.' Kali begrudgingly agrees to sneak out and take a peek.
The old man's stall is so old that he doesn't pack it up at night, instead just closing the tent. He and his camel-horse are fast asleep, and the two sisters creep towards the box.
Atop the box, in ancient script, is the word 'Godkeeper',
and around the box are a series of names:
Paravanthe, ulaphon of summoning Namdalash, ulaphon of communion Bercynnion, ulaphon of loyalty Ramandras, ulaphon of remembrance Chandaru, ulaphon of compassion Kizrashir, ulaphon of mercy Targahynde, ulaphon of power Vethlas, ulaphon of faith Beauranot, ulaphon of plenty Kovasha, ulaphon of fear Demelze, ulaphon of artifice Nelshan, ulaphon of union Oriflamme, ulaphon of rage Radomaj, ulaphon of treachery Naldoros, ulaphon of opposition Bonavere, ulaphon of joy Clemat, ulaphon of kinship Vamruhai, ulaphon of anguish Dhanyamat, ulaphon of incongruity

Kaboka, ulaphon of authority Jalhamphirat, ulaphon of refusal Volmayoon, ulaphon of supplication Aulvadyr, ulaphon of truth gasparde, ulaphon of confidence Falmaraj, ulaphon of sight Ostavur, ulaphon of disobedience Zalvanti, ulaphon of deception Eldoreth, ulaphon of perception Shadlemaire, ulaphon of transference Astavalur, ulaphon of readiness Kalvunni, ulaphon of youth Vempata, ulaphon of patience Vondalur, ulaphon of haste Malphonse, ulaphon of hubris Kundalas, ulaphon of focus Rntharion, ulaphon of eternity Glimmerdene, ulaphon of belief Valkayorne, ulaphon of juxtaposition Harnadûn, ulaphon of oppression Hestaroze, ulaphon of displacement Vulamshivar, ulaphon of justice Malkavath, ulaphon of injustice Almareth, ulaphon of favour zalmaphaire, ulaphon of judgement Veshka, ulaphon of assurance Kaladeen, ulaphon of adornment
and beneath them, two illegible names, scratched out:
(Illegible) ulaphon of freedom and (illegible) ulaphon of celebration.
as they read, the girls had become so enraptured by the lyrical sound of the names that they didn't notice the lid begin to lift of its own volition, a strange light emanating from within. Without warning, the lid snapped open, waking the old man, who furiously begins to yell at them!
The two girls flee, narrowly managing to avoid capture.
As the two sit hidden behind a merchant stall, catching their breath, sitting beside them, all of a sudden, is a 12 foot tall being, smiling at them.
The girls are absolutely petrified, but the being asks them to calm down. The creature has kind eyes, and pleads for them to allow him to explain himself:

'Young ones, I am Namdalash. Ulaphon of communion. I was imprisoned within the Godkeeper box by that nefarious old man - he is not what he seems, for his an extremely dangerous warlock, hiding in plain sight as a peddler of wares. He has roamed for centuries untold, capturing those of my kind, the ulaphon - embodiments of life energy, patron saints of existence.'
The young girls, fascinated, listen on.
'The Arva-Keluda, the magic spell that kept our realm safe away from yours, was negated by the old man somehow. He will not stop until he has all of us, and there are only two left - freedom and celebration --'
'The only things we have left in this world!', Kali yells. The creature nods.
'If the ulaphon remain imprisoned, the bounties of the world will thin and thin, until life will never be able to go back to what it once was. It is a dire time.'
The two girls ask Namdalash what can be done, what they can do to help.
'Setting me free was a start, a very good one! But now the old man will be on his guard, and will soon vanish. However, if we can find him, we may be able to free the others from inside the box.'
'How does that work?' asked Talma.
'Because you have freed one of us, and because you are not ulaphon - you are of the outside world, and so are able to open the box from the inside - the lock is only meant to keep Ulaphon within, not humans. I can take you there, hide you within my shrouds.'
The two sisters look to each other, wondering what their parents will think. Namdalash reassures them:
'Time does not pass within the box, for ulaphon are timeless energies. No time at all will pass in your world, no matter how long you remain within.'
After a moment of hesitation, the two girls agree to help. Namdalash smiles.
'Then let us make haste. Come, follow me.'
The trio make their way to Balnouk Plaza, where the old man is preparing his wagon to leave. As it begins to leave into the sand-sea, Namdalash,

who floats and does not leave footprints, sweeps the girls up in his long arms, and they quietly follow the cart. They enter through the back, and enter the box.
They land in a strange place - something akin to the real world, but not quite.
Namdalash takes them to Glothka, the dark one, rumoured to be the very first prisoner of the box (its rumoured she made the box and was herself and her entire city trapped in the very wood). She says it is true, they are able to escape, being humans and all, but they cannot do it whenever they like - that requires power.
The girls are furious at Namdalash for not mentioning this detail, but Glothka shuts them all up.
'He wasn't to know - Namdalash was bound as all the other ulaphon are, within the Godvaults, heavily guarded by the Watchers. I'd know, because I made them. This box was meant to contain the irremovable dangers of the cosmos - I made it out of a love of life, but instead it saps it away. My entire city was sucked into this place because of me, and their memory of the outside world, their home, has all but faded. I will not pass up this chance to undo my wrongs, through you two young women. I give my powers to you, as each god will do once freed.'
And so the architect of the box give her remaining power to the girls, enabling them to absorb the power they need both to free the ulaphon and escape.
The girls argue with Namdalash, ultimately concluding that their task in theory should become easier as they go along - the more gods they free, the more help and power they will have.
The three head to Telnarun, the illumined terrace, to get supplies for their journey, and begin seeking for information about where to find the first Godvault.
They speak to Fanuja, who refers them to Lopkin, who takes them to Galafi, a scholar in hiding, who shares a page torn from the Map of Apocrypha, which shows the locations of some of the Godvaults.
The closest is that of Valkayorne, ulaphon of juxtaposition, which they head for.

Their saga of unleashing the ulaphon is long and winding, far longer than I could fit in this post, where they encounter many strange and fascinating characters and creatures. Here are a few:
Farwyn, the bear-elk, who shows them the way to Vempata's Godvault Jawafi Lamsha-Divari, Galafi's brother, who helps them on their quest Lomika, who shows them to Kralkas, the palace of carnage
Lonza, a swarthy town major of the largest city in the world of Apocrypha rulkada, the gypsy-witch of veluna, who forges the two new staffs Taroka, the one-hand, who sacrifices himself to help them reach their goal and Thalva, the wine maiden, a prisoner of the Dark-kin guardians, who poisons her master when given the chance by the two girls.
Each of the Ulaphon who joined them is able to be summoned in the battle to free their brethren, and each of them pledge their gratitude to the 'Twin Saviours'.
At their journey's end, the siblings are in their 40s, and as they defeat the personification of the Old Man - who saw the box breaking apart on the outside, and used the darkest magic to enter, trying to rebuild the prison forever...finally, he is defeated.
His dark energy becomes light, and flows into the two women, creating copies of them both - Talmavayir, the ulaphon of freedom, and Kalidoram, the ulaphon of celebration. The box is destroyed, the girls emerge unchanged,
And head back towards their bed at night. When the family awake, the world is filled with life again. The parents ask the girls what they think changed in the world overnight, and they replied:
'Everything changed. For the better!' The End.

Namdalash, The Market Creature
(or The Stalk’O’Stall)
(The original tale, first published on October 7th, 2012)
This ancient, magic, and sometimes enigmatic being comes to life whenever and wherever there is a market, and is invisible to the human eye...at least for a time.
Namdalash is always present at marketplaces, and is a creature whose life is quite literally that of the Market; loving nothing more than passing between the stalls, listening intently to the lively, busy chatter, hearing the raucous laughter and good natured arguments over prices, and simply being in and around the general sights and sounds of human hubbub.
For as long as they have been held by people throughout history, markets have always been presided and arbitered by Namdalash.
Sometimes, when The Stalk'O'Stall wishes to become visible, stray pieces of whatever is being sold at the market gather together, one by one and out of sight, to make this so.
The creature in this form can look like anything, really: a shambling, heavily cloaked old man, a wispy thin woman, seemingly composed entirely out of carpets, trinkets, fruit, lightbulbs or even fish!
The way it is known that the Stalk'O'Stall is ever seen, is in the corner of one's eye...it's impossible to see a full shape,
In focus.
People who know about the creature are wise never to steal at a market, for as well as protecting and keeping the balance of peace and spirit of them, Namdalash does not abide by thieves and sees to them with otherworldly means.
A common cautionary tale told to naughty children who steal is that they are incredibly lucky they were not taken away by the Stall Stalker.
When asked of who this is, it is replied that the creature is not quite a who, or even a what, but something both, neither, in between.
In fact, The Inbetween is where those who are caught are taken to by the creature, to be locked in a cage until they have learned the error of their misdeed.

It is said that stealing makes the soul wither, and is unnatural in the balance of things in the world, which upsets Namdalash, whose own life suffers when there is stealing and lying in this, our world.
And so, though frightening to behold, the creature exists to ensure greedy or needy wandering hands are kept firmly behind backs and beside sides.
In the Inbetween, captured thieves are given three chances: this is represented by the three fingers on the creature's hands (sometimes these are made of parsnips, candles or salami).
If for all three Namdalash hears a lie, the cage is opened, the liar and stealer held aloft by a three fingered hand and then melted away, absorbed into the shape of Namdalash itself.
The creature dislikes uproar, crying ignored children, and especially unfair prices... whispering, to those who extort and betray, of the fate that awaits them in the Inbetween should they not amend their ways.
When all goes well, and a market dissolves and everyone goes home, so too does Namdalash...typically, one can see the mess left behind shortly after a market is finished.
This isn't mess or rubbish : it's what is left over when Namdalash sheds visible form, and returns to The Inbetween...or to another market, happening somewhere else.
As neither benevolent nor malevolent, and of whose ways and mere existence very little is known, depictions of the creature in paintings or song are very rare indeed.
As a gestalt embodiment of the many different moods, energies and ways of different people and objects, Namdalash is often considered perplexing and unabsolute by folklore creature standards.
The creature does not belong to any one culture's history, appearing rarely if ever anywhere in books or paintings, and those who have seen and can depict such a being with any degree of accuracy or certainty are rarer still...
Or perhaps just as hidden away from view, or 'Inbetween', as it were, as The creature in question.

The Quantumyth is seeking developers and collaborators, using the upcoming platform from Media Molecule, Dreams, To create each of these tales as interactive experiences.
Namdalash will be an RPG, modelled after Persona and Pokémon (collecting entities that serve you in battle), with a narrative that parallels the Chronicles of Narnia and a world that evokes Final Fantasy XII.
If this is of interest to you, get in touch, and when Dreams is released, we can collaborate on bringing this, and eventually all, Quantumyth tales to interactive life ([[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]))

'spirit of revelry' is sustained by/watches oveis the patron spirit
of human revelry. There is a spirit of mourning, a spirit of
generosity, and also a spirit of great sadness. There is a spirit of
pain, and of suffering. There is a spirit of communion, too -
quite an important figure in this, the Otherworld. His name is
Namdalash - and he watches over all group behaviours and energies,
both human and spirit. Many lower spirits serve him.
His favourite dwelling place among the humans is things like
marketplaces, where a lot of dynamism is present - its an eclectic
setting which suits his tastes, what with him being an entity who
presides over so many different types of specific gatherings.

there are minor spirits of friendship, which die when friendships end.
Grenwall is one such spirit, and he has a tragic arc.

Namdalash guides, watches over and is sustained by positive
communions that bring people together. However, in this world,
fewer people come together in person. Threre is division and
unprecedented isolation.

Toza, the spirit of division, is thriving. Isolation, depression,
suicide - they all fuel this deity, and he and Namdalash contiually
clash. Something is wrong, and Toza is getting crafty - as depression
does, it convinces you its right. And its very convincing.

Two sisters get torn apart by this struggle. Both children of
travelling parents who go to many marketplaces, Tela and Tavi,
their parents are fighting. One sides with the father, the other
with the mother. There is great conflict that is caused in the
Otherworld due to this. Velandramor, the friendship spirit between
the father and mother, is withering. Erdon, the budding friendship
spirit between the two girls, tries to speak with Vela but
the rift grows. Namadalash comes to mend these fractures,
or at least watch them pan out. but this time is different.

Tela and Tavi are the last straw in Toza's battle. If they dont
reconcile, the whole world is doomed. Namdalash appears in person
to tell this, something he's never done. T & T only heard of him
from some xrazy druid guy who comes to alot of their markets,
that was Toza in disguise mocking him. Thought he was insane.

Namdalash brings them into the spirit world, to the centre of the
otherworld to make things right with Almanu, the spirit of spirits.
many of Toza's conflict riddled spirits stand guiard, and they
vent that conflict on them on their journey. They are joined by
some other spirits who help them along their journey, some they
recognise, some they dont. In the spirit realm you become
stripped away - that is you become a little like a Journey robe person,
except with spirit tendrils.

The precariousness and the reason for the story is as follows -
Toza's about to win, that's how the world is heading with so
many iphones and facebooks, no one is talking anymore. Toza's about
to win and he's trying to end it all, to tip the scales.
Tela and Tavi are who he has picked to do so with, the last straw.
Namdalash arrives after their big family argument, consults the
sickly spirit of love between the parents, and advises it to go
into hibernation for a while, while he takes Tela and Tavi to
Almanu to plea for balance. When they jump to the spirit realm,
a spell which hasnt been done for many many years, they end up
in Cranwell Station, a transit-space for the spirits, a bustling place.
Remember, this is a parallel world - there are LARGE spirits who
represent large groups of people (some as big and as old as
dinosaurs, very fantastical looking), some as small as chipmunks
(young love, budding friendships). Its a completely magical
and unique sight, and Tela and Tavi forget themselves whilst
being led thruogh the crowd by Namdalash, who has gone incognito
as a simple 'Spirit of Benevolence' for the time being. In this form
he is whispy, tall, on the thin side, with long arms and a flowing cloak.

Namdalash is wise and knows the way, but Toza's agents attack,
and gravely wound him. Tela and Tavi make their escape,
and take the wounded spirit to Beruvenu, a multi legged spirit who
sees them in the crowd and whisks them away to his alcove.
There T & T tell them about Namdalash and BV informs them Toza
has planning this all along, and that public attack was one of
his final strokes. They must go the old, alternate way to Almanu.
Its a dificult path to find because its self forged by two
humans - only they can manipulate things here and that ability is
increased manyfold by being directly in this realm -
distant shaping versus direct control and morphing. But they
are young and need to be tought. Beruvenu takes them and tells them
to go the the Manywood, where many things are and can be.

They are almost eaten alive by a giant spirit of greed when,
out from nowhere, a small crotchety old spirit who looks a little like
them appears. This is Tela and Tavi's grandad who left for the spirit
realm, researched it. Eccentric. he explains how they see the world is
a filter, re-arranged into shapes they can understand. good to see them.
T & T tells of plight, and the granfather explains another layer.
Not only are they the last straw, but Toza is truly evil, for he wants
to finish this realm where it started. Turns out Tela and Tavi are
heirs, orginals, the first family. He would have told him but he died,
and thats the opening scene - the grandfather telling Tela something in
her eyes, but he passses, he could only see the trruth once on that side
of the mortal veil thuogh.

Of the lineage. Confirms namadalash words they can learn
to manipulate the spirit world to find the path to almanu.
its through reconcilkliation which he needed to do when
he died to come to this place. T & T begin to reconcile
and mould their path towards almanu. they train with him for a time,
and Namdalash sleeps, recovering in the healing Manywood.

FAQ

How do spirits make friends?

They make friendships the same as us, but those connections are inperceptible in the real world.
a couple who have simplar sdynamics to another coulple in different places int he world will
become friends. A Grandfather-grand-daughter Spirit will bond with a similar one from china/afrika,
for example. Same.

Can spirits procreate?

Yes, and when this happens the child is a pure expression of the feelings and vibes they share -
When they come together as one this usually means the resonance is so strong in both worlds that
-- a nascent friendship of the same kind, that shares charateristics of both spirits.
When a friendship begins on the spirit level - a true gift of love from the universe/SpiritScape.

Do Spirits eat?

Yes - they are sustained on
the health of their host/
generating relationships.
There are marketplaces,
however - sometimes
the spirits to feed themselves
and make their hosts happy,
it goes both ways,
they get different kind
of 'spirit kicks' - for example
to boost their hosts they
might get a frienship
solidifyinger. This like
people are flawed - some
are overboard.

If so, then what?

Is there a 'spirit society'?

What gives spirits sentience?
Almanu, and her lineage -
when there was that explosion
of the first relationship
between man and woman,
between any two people,
then as the people grew
many, so did the spirits.
one world feeds the other
and vice versa.

Namdalash, The Market Creature
(or The Stalk'O'Stall)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This ancient, magic, and sometimes enigmatic being comes to life whenever and wherever there is a market, and is invisible to the human eye...at least for a time.
Namdalash is always present at marketplaces, and is a creature whose life is quite literally that of the Market; loving nothing more than passing between the stalls, listening intently to the lively, busy chatter, hearing the raucous laughter and good natured arguments over prices, and simply being in and around the general sights and sounds of human hubbub.
For as long as they have been held by people throughout history, markets have always been presided and arbitered by Namdalash.
Sometimes, when The Stalk'O'Stall wishes to become visible, stray pieces of whatever is being sold at the market gather together, one by one and out of sight, to make this so.
The creature in this form can look like anything, really: a shambling, heavily cloaked old man, a whispy thin woman, seemingly composed entirely out of carpets, trinkets, fruit, lightbulbs or even fish!
The way it is known that the Stalk'O'Stall is ever seen, is in the corner of one's eye...it's impossible to see a full shape,
In focus.
People who know about the creature are wise never to steal at a market, for as well as protecting and keeping the balance of peace and spirit of them, Namdalash does not abide by thieves and sees to them with otherworldly means.
A common cautionary tale told to naughty children who steal is that they are incredibly lucky they were not taken away by the Stall Stalker.
When asked of who this is, it is replied that the creature is not quite a who, or even a what, but something both, neither, in between.
In fact, The Inbetween is where those who are caught are taken to by the creature, to be locked in a cage until they have learned the error of their misdeed.
It is said that stealing makes the soul wither, and is unnatural in the balance of things in the world, which upsets Namdalash, whose own life suffers when there is stealing and lying in this, our world.
And so, though frightening to behold, the creature exists to ensure greedy or needy wandering hands are kept firmly behind backs and beside sides.
In the Inbetween, captured thieves are given three chances: this is represented by the three fingers on the creature's hands (sometimes these are made of parsnips, candles or salami).
If for all three Namdalash hears a lie, the cage is opened, the liar and stealer held aloft by a three fingered hand and then melted away, absorbed into the shape of Namdalash itself.
The creature dislikes uproar, crying ignored children, and especially unfair prices... whispering, to those who extort and betray, of the fate that awaits them in the Inbetween should they not amend their ways.
When all goes well, and a market dissolves and everyone goes home, so too does Namdalash...typically, one can see the mess left behind shortly after a market is finished.
This isn't mess or rubbish : it's what is left over when Namdalash sheds visible form, and returns to The Inbetween...or to another market, happening somewhere else.
As neither benevolent nor malevolent, and of whose ways and mere existence very little is known, depictions of the creature in paintings or song are very rare indeed.
As a gestalt embodiment of the many different moods, energies and ways of different people and objects, Namdalash is often considered perplexing and unabsolute by folklore creature standards.
The creature does not belong to any one culture's history, appearing rarely if ever anywhere in books or paintings, and those who have seen and can depict such a being with any degree of accuracy or certainty are rarer still...
Or perhaps just as hidden away from view, or 'Inbetween', as it were, as The creature in question.
2020.10.27 23:06 grandfell What other Rock Bands do you think is as good as the Beatles in Song writing.
For me is U2.
U2 were and are still my favourite rock band, this was before i got into the beetles. U2 was more of the band that was my generation 80s, 90s and early 2000S and the main reason I fell in love with them was because of their song writing. i guess this is why i fell in love with the beatles when I rediscovered them a lot more than pop culture references.
Songs like One, Where the street have no name, Beautiful Day, I still have not found what I am looking for, Pride in the name of Love for me are some of the best lyrical rock songs of all time.
2020.10.27 23:02 A_Squeezed_Can 22 [M4F] California/Anywhere - Looking for someone absolutely OBSESSED with beautiful (mostly instrumental) music.
As the title implies, I really love music, and I'm looking for a music buddy/maybe more. There's a lot more to me than music, and it would be nice to eventually find a partner, but as a social experiment, I wanna start with just music. Because I'm tired of jamming out alone.
Intense, emotional, or otherwise overwhelming music has influenced and inspired every second of my life ever since I developed working ears. By putting headphones on, cranking the volume, and closing my eyes, I can put myself somewhere else entirely, and I love that beyond what words can express. I've only found someone who appreciates the music I do (as much as I do) once before, and it was one of the most magical experiences of my life. I'd like to find that again.
I'm not just seeking someone who sees the beauty in music and loves to listen. I want someone who's okay with being moved to tears constantly. You want that fuzzy feeling in your chest. But you also wanna find that melody, chord, beat, or drop that just passes through you. You want to hear that one part of the song that makes you go "oooh" as tears well up in your eyes- then proceed to skip back seven seconds and replay it fifteen times in a row. You're also hoping to find someone with raw passion in his veins, who'll gladly talk your ear off until the sun rises if you give him the chance, about music and plenty of other things.
Sounds like you? Fantastic! Then, read on for some specifics:
My collection's mostly instrumentals, specifically soundtracks. Avatar: The Last Airbender, Harry Potter, The Legend of Zelda, Metal Gear Solid, and Two Steps From Hell are some of the collections of soundtracks that defined my childhood, but my collection goes far beyond that, and it's growing constantly, especially now. I don't only listen to this sorta stuff, or only to music without lyrics; I listen to whatever gives me the right vibe, no matter what genre. I've taken up a more recent love for EDM, Vaporwave, and especially Lo-Fi, but if it hits me just right, I'll listen to anything.
Here's some samples of what I enjoy. If these pieces do something to you, I want you to do something to my inbox. Your selfie gets mine.
2020.10.27 22:11 markleenct1 I Am You by Stray Kids is ahead of its time and y'all just weren't ready for such a masterpiece
to this day, I am still mind blown at the fact that I Am YOU got the feedbacks it did.
EVERYTHING about the song slaps. From the first verse to Changbin's rap to the chorus, to the dance, meaningful lyrics, literally everything about I am YOU was done right and for some reason it just didn't hit it off?
I'd like to think it wasn't anything to do with the actual song but more of the timing...? It wasn't too long after their first comeback and then came Miroh, the bad bitch. Or maybe it was just too sentimental and boring for some people?
I know that views is such a tasteless thing to base anything off of, but the I am YOU (title track) music video is sitting at 38M views while 'Get Cool' a side track from the album is sitting at 43M. Although I do agree Get Cool is a bop, it's still surprising that a side track is able to surpass a title track at such.
I am 99% sure that if SKz were to release I am YOU in this day and age especially after the hype of God's Menu and Backdoor, it will receive the love it rightfully deserves (but then the hype is big nowadays so fans will probably eat anything up lol).
In short, go listen to I am YOU.
note: idk what flair to put so. I also was going to put 'was' but for some reason I put 'is'. I can't grammar.
Hello, there’s this song that always plays in my store, but it’s so quiet, and I can never maker out the full lyrics.
All I know, is that i between verses theres this elevator type of music, and (Best thing I could think of.) the words love, and believe being said.
I know this is very vague, but if anyone knows what I’m taking about, I’ll be very grateful.
2020.10.27 21:47 OscillatingDaily33 Ohms lyrics
I was going to post this to a reply to someone’s interpretation of the lyrics, but I figured I should just make it a post on its own.
After I read that Chino was going to therapy, I feel as if many of his lyrics could relate to those therapy sessions. Maybe he was seeing a Jungian psychologist and this album is just a reflection of all that transpired literally and metaphorically.
I will just pluck a few examples that caught my attention and you could most likely do this to any album, but fun to do nonetheless.
Chino and his use of "rebirth" and "balance" in Genesis... "Psychological rebirth was Jung's particular focus- Also see individuation. Jung felt that the psyche sought balance. The person who could listen to various points of view such as love and hate within themselves, and balance these out, was a well-developed individual"
This could also relate to the "Hero's Journey" as well. Add the song Pompeji to that which sounds like someone's in the 'Abyss". Album ends with Ohms and it sounds like it's in a major chord. Chino is free from the fear of death, which in turn is the freedom to live.
His use of the word "honey" in Error caught my attention and according to a Jungian psychologist:
"Honey, the miraculous sweet golden substance or healing elixir that is produced by the bees, can be seen as one form of the alchemical lapis, while the bee’s sting has been likened to that of the arrows of Eros or Cupid, the god of love. The bees’ honey-making, the regulation of the hive (that is, the whole colony) and dedicated care for their queen symbolically have much in common with the chrysopoeia (the gold-making) of alchemy and with the entire alchemical opus and its processes, and thus with the psychological individuation process that CG Jung describes. The symbolism of the bee, honey and the hive intertwine, but at the core is the imagery of the circumambulation of the centre—for bees, this is a dynamic in the service of the queen bee and thus of zoë, the indestructibility of life; psychologically it is linked with the mandala or the archetype of inner order."
This link is dead sounds like a mix of an internal/external dialogue with himself and the psychologist
Radiant City- "If I ever chose to break in again" This line leaves me with the impression he's talking to his psychologist and he's asking hehim to follow him there into his own psyche.
"Where's the ledge" He's asking where does this end and or where is the finish line?
“A moment of conscience/Then shock to the head” A moment of what he thinks is clarity but is cluttered by pure confusion because he lacks understanding of what he is feeling/seeing.
Headless- "We are entirely insane" and "climbing into/violate brain waves" could be a nod to the work the psychologist is trying to do. We as in the human race are insane, not just himself.
As mentioned before, you could probably do this with any deftones albums due to Chinos’ vague lyrics and that’s what makes him such a great lyricist. I was curious if anyone else had similar thoughts that were familiar with Jung?
2020.10.27 21:20 ketoske looking for Tools and Mentors
Welp, I know I should just sound like the average guy who knows nothing trying to learn the secret method to sing like Adele, but I would like to learn how to sing, lurking in this subreddit I noticed that the voice is another instrument and I want to learn how to use mine, my best friend is learning about music production and would like to help him with the lyrics, would love to learn about exercises that can do somebody in the beginner level and start studying how to sing, if there is some youtube channel that worked for you, or any platform, course. ofc I know nearly nothing about music and I feel a little overwhelmed with everything.
edit: if there is any place that requires to pay I'm willing to do it but I need to feel comfortable that I'm paying for something good
2020.10.27 21:20 jteissenb (IIL) Belle & Sebastian and The Smiths (WEWIL)
I really like these indie pop bands and was looking for some others like them.
I like that the lyrics are often contemplative and sort of nostalgic. I like that both these bands harness the emotions and feelings of their singers, Murdoch for B&S and Moz for the smiths.
My fav albums my them are The Boy With The Arab Strap and Strangeways her we come but I love most of each groups discography.
The recommendations don’t have to be British bands but I do think that adds to my appreciation of them lol
2020.10.27 21:05 Harbour-Coat (Un)official Song Discussion - Tilt-A-Whirl
LYRICS
My phantom brother came to me His backlit face was hard to see I couldn't move, I couldn't scream
You can't un-hear Beethoven's 5th This human heart’s an aggregate Competing feelings so disparate And strange
Life's a solitary song No one to clap or sing along It sounds so sweet and then it’s gone So suddenly
My aging mother steeled herself Against the gravity she felt Braced for another fainting spell
Fell in her mind through a trap door We picked her up off of the floor When she came to her throat was sore And she spoke
Life's a game of solitaire Amusement rides at county fairs The Tilt-A-Whirl of our despair Ends suddenly
Where'd it go? Life's a lonely love affair Kaleidoscope beyond compare It vanishes into thin air So suddenly
2020.10.27 21:00 vivacoronet (Europe) Looking for other rock enthusiasts (15-20) to write and play with!
I've been playing instruments for as long as I can remember but since the music community where I am from is very bleak I never found myself able to connect with other kids that just love to play which is absolutely tragic since I've been hearing left and right from all my idols that playing by yourself can't compare to sharing your work!
I've felt sorry for myself for way too long (seriously, I spent almost two years by myself just complaining about being alone) and now I feel like this is the next natural step. I absolutely don't mind collaborating with people from other countries or even continents, at this point I'm just looking for someone who can challenge me regularly, inspire me to keep going even when the fingers are bleeding and make my passion for music ignite even more than before, wherever they may be from!
So here are some things about me, I suppose: - I'm 17 and from northern Germany - I play violin, piano, drums, bass and guitar although i'd only call myself proficient in piano, bass and guitar - I write a lot, both lyrics and actual music - I can sing but I wouldn't hesitate to leave it to someone who's more comfortable with being a vocalist - Artists/Bands that inspire me: Frank Iero, My Chemical Romance, Muse, Radiohead, Queen
Anyway, I'd love to hear from you guys! Have a great day/noon/whatever ✨
2020.10.27 20:49 jazzzberries 3rd Trip Overall - I just had to share it somewhere
I changed any names for reasons. For a little context: I only took 1 tab, I'm a female in my late 20's and I solo'd this one at my house. I love art, and LSD tends to give me huge bursts of energy to do art. I added a link to the work that I did to this post here: https://imgur.com/gallery/r9jfCBn. I tried my very best to take notes throughout the whole trip, hope you enjoy!
10:31 - Dropped
A few things going through my head - still anxious about it, but Damien did it before and he was fine. I think I'm gonna do a whole lot of art today. I just need to be sure that Tuesday I study for sure. I've got everything set up, I should be ok. Josh is on speed dial in case anything happens. I'll call him. I'm glad he's close by. Playlist started - first song is Hockey Teeth by Bahamas. Here we go.
10:52 - Not swallowed yet
Currently playing: Breezeblocks by Alt-J (#Hashtag remix) I'm vibing at the moment. Nothing yet, but I can definitely feel it coming. I was looking at my paintings and it was cool.
11:06 - chillen
Currently playing: Silk by Giselle (Ianborg remix) I swallowed it, and I'm starting to feel the effects. I feel really happy right now and this song is just beautiful. I kinda want to go outside, but I'm happy inside, and I know it's probably not a good idea. I feel a little tired, and sliiiiightly nauseous but it's ok. This song is so fucking good.
11:34 - not hitting yet
Currently listening to: heavenly father by Isaiah Rashad Still just chillen, music sounds real good! Trying to draw and it's difficult. Also trying to converse with people on the phone. Very difficult. I feel some physical effects, mostly tiredness and nausea I think. Not sure though.
12:13 - oh boy
Currently listening to: let's go Tokyo (I think? I'll look up the artist later) I definitely feel different now. I'm getting a weird cough. Might just be me though. Pupils dilated. Very few visuals. Feels nice though. My lungs feels weird. I guess I haven't peaked yet. Music changed to So Cruel by Young empires. So good
12:24 - been coughing up a storm
Currently listening to: my favourite part by Mac Miller
I wish someone else was with me atm. I want to share this with someone. My paintings are blue today. Still very few visuals. That's ok. I am coughing a whole lot which is weird.
12:52 - I feel amazing
Currently playing: Re:Re by Asian kung Fu generation
Cough subsided, I feel fucking fantastic. My art is beautiful, I am beautiful. I don't need visuals to have a good time 👍 I don't need to understand the lyrics for them to be good.
1:04
Currently listening to I remember by deadmau5 and kaskade
I would be cool with taking this at a music festival!! Just this though, no other drugs at the same time
1:13 - purple
I can't wait to read these when I'm sober
My vision is flashing holy fuck is it me or is it real life
1:20 - I talk a lot of shit for someone who doesn't do a lot in life
Listening to: make me fade by vanic (k. Flay)
I don't have a right to say half the things I do. I need to think about what I say before I say it
1:43 - I am laughing so hard at a dumb fucking meme
Currently playing: planet by anamanaguchi
I feel amaaaaaazing, literally dancing in my house
2:03 – currently playing: memoirs of a gorilla by $uicide boy$
Holy fuck what a vibe. I'm glad no one can see me right now lol
2:22 – currently playing: smile like you mean it by the killers
Am I good? Am I good? Am I doing good? Should I be? I just want to do art
I have a small headache
I wish someone would talk to me. I feel bad for feeling like the main character. No one should be in their head so much. I am not original
Am I really an artist if I don't make a mess?
2:35 - I fucking LOVE cats. Idgaf what anyone says
Listening to: Kirby by Aesop Rock
2:54 - definitely coming down
Listening to: Goin off - snow tha product
I'm not really sure what to write here tbh.
3:24 - paints are prettier than pens
I'm not liking the work that I do right now. Listening to blue rodeo.
It looks weird, and it looked weird when I did it
4:21 - slowly coming down
Listening to Phum Viphurit - lover boy
I feel good. Like I used my time well.
4:44 - currently listening to skinny love by birdy (Fareoh remix)
I feel more like myself now. People are still messaging me - next time I'm going to isolate myself without my phone. I think it'll be better.
5:39 – currently listening to: congratulations by post malone
I still feel the effects. I hope I can get up tomorrow.
