2020.10.23 05:59 Watchdogs66 Our "Drive to 245": The Twenty-Seventh Step (Second Quarter)

The Drive To 245: Deprive the GOP In 25

In 2014 and with 234 House seats, the NRCC launched the “Drive to 245” campaign for the 2014 midterms, which focused on securing 245 seats for the 114th Congress. At the close of the midterms, they ended up picking up 13 seats, putting their new majority to 247 seats, 2 seats above the goal. For the majority of this election cycle, we had at least 234 House seats to start with, until a turncoat in disguise switched to the GOP in December 2019 (get fucked Jeff Van Drew) and we lost one of our districts in a May 2020 special election (get your act together Christy Smith). Despite these setbacks, getting to 245 seats in the next election is possible for us to achieve, if we are smart about it.

In late November 2018, I began by compiling an initial list of 25 potential districts that could give us the necessary gains for us to make the necessary net gain of 10 seats to fulfill our “Drive to 245” campaign goal. I then outlined the state representatives and state senators that we have on our side that live within (or at least represent a good portion of) the identified districts in the second step, which was split into parts one and two. These local officials are often our first line of offense when it comes to selecting appropriate candidates to flip GOP congressional districts, as these people often start out with significant amounts of name recognition (at least compared to most political novices), developed campaign infrastructures, and established donor networks to draw on. In the third step, I explored four different ways that these state representatives and state senators can help promising candidates build a solid platform to flip these 25 districts, even if we are not able to recruit any of these seasoned individuals themselves. I then proceeded to identify every individual local county Democratic organization within in each of these 25 districts to determine how much of a viable network exists towards flipping any of these districts, and whether any of them appear to be fledgling and underfunded, which was split into parts one, two, and three. I then proceeded to draw up rough battle plans to recruit the best candidates that are suitable towards making the necessary gains for the proposed 245 House seats, which I covered in parts one, two, and three. Since then, I updated my list of 25 districts to better reflect the developments that have occurred since November 2018, as well as the candidates from our end that have filed in those districts. After that, I covered updated game plans for the updated 25 districts, which was again split into parts one, two, and three. Another comprehensive update to the list was conducted in early July to account for the GOP retirements, lack of Democratic candidate recruitment for several districts, and other remarkable events that have occurred, all of which have been documented in said update. From there, more detailed plans were made that illustrated the overall status of the Democratic campaigns for each of these districts, which can be found in parts one, two, three, and four. These plans also highlighted which candidates appeared to have the most organized campaigns for each district, and which ones out of these strongest candidates needed the most assistance in terms of fundraising. Donation plans were also made that could sufficiently help out these struggling candidates, if every active user of this subreddit took part. After that, I provided a detailed plan for defending our 5 most endangered Democratic incumbents for this cycle. I next discussed the different methods that volunteers can help out a campaign, and what good campaigns should provide in such activities to optimize their voter outreach effectiveness, both of which can be found in parts one and two. In October 2019, I then provided another comprehensive review of the 25 districts that are the most likely to flip blue and the ideal strategies to accomplish that goal, which can be found in parts one, two, three, and four. After that, I provided an update on the overall status of our top 5 most endangered incumbents, and posted a rescue plan to help out the least financially stable campaigns, both of which can be found in this post. My next step provided day-by-day calendars highlighting volunteer events within the targeted 25 districts that helped participants develop vital Democratic infrastructure in those areas. These calendars, which ran from October 31 to January 15, can be found in parts one, two, three, and four. In late January, I gave a third update on the top 5 incumbents to defend this cycle. At the start of February 2020, I gave a fresh analysis of the 25 districts with the best chances of going blue, which are provided in parts one, two, three, and four. I then jumped to a day-by-day calendar of volunteer events of congressional campaigns operating throughout the 25 districts, which was originally planned to be released in four parts. However, the quickly deteriorating COVID-19 situation has forced this series to be suspended halfway through this step. The two calendars provided in this step, which ran from February 7 to March 19, can be found here and here. In April 2020, I provided an updated study of the 25 districts with the highest chances of flipping as well as the optimal strategies for each of these districts, which was delivered in parts one, two, three, and four. Later in May 2020, I provided another update on the top 5 incumbents to defend this cycle and their performances. I subsequently proceeded in June 2020 to provide a list of the competitive state house and state senate districts that overlapped one of the 30 congressional districts that this series targeted or defended, which was delivered in parts one, two, three, and four. Starting in late July 2020, I provided an updated perspective of the 25 districts with the highest chances of flipping as well as the optimal strategies for each of these districts, all of which were provided in parts one, two, three, and four. Shortly thereafter in August 2020, I provided a fresh update on the campaign status of the top 5 incumbents to defend this cycle. From there, I supplied a fresh view on the status of our campaigns in competitive state house and state senate districts that overlapped one of the 30 congressional districts that was targeted or defended by this series, which was given in parts one, two, three, and four. Next, I provided a calendar highlighting the important dates for the congressional campaigns operating within the 30 districts targeted and defended by this series. In October 2020, I provided a final comprehensive review of the 25 districts with the highest chances of flipping as well as the optimal strategies to pursue for each of these districts, which was delivered in parts one, two, three, and four. Shortly thereafter, I provided a final update on the general standing of the top 5 incumbents to defend this cycle.

This step will provide a final update on the competitive state house and state senate districts that lie within or near the 30 congressional districts that this series is either targeting or defending. These state legislative districts are grouped by state, and were then listed in the order of the related congressional districts’ overall priority, which is roughly based on factors such as whether there is an important up-ballot statewide race (Presidential or Senate) to support and the overall competitiveness of the congressional districts in question. Given the overall length of these strategies, this step will be split into four quarters. In this step’s first quarter, a list of competitive state legislative districts located in Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New York was provided.
In this second quarter, target legislative districts situated in Oklahoma, Utah, South Carolina, and New Mexico will be examined. Every state legislative district listed in this post will include its current controlling party (D or R), incumbent’s name (or an OPEN indication if said incumbent is retiring), experimentally calculated Cook PVI, the CNalysis rating given at the time of this writing, and the congressional districts that it overlaps with. The Democratic nominee’s campaign website and latest fundraising numbers will also be provided, as well as the latest fundraising numbers of the GOP opponent. At the end of each state’s group of legislative districts, a summary of the status of our campaigns there will be delivered.
Some candidates are indicated with a minus or a plus, which indicates the overall quality of their campaign websites according to criteria that was listed in the twentieth step of this series.

Oklahoma:
HD-83 (D, Chelsey Branham, R+10, Tilt D): OK-05
Chelsey Branham (+): $52,800, https://www.chelseybranham.com/ GOP: Eric Roberts: $45,888
Summary: According to the pre-runoff reports, Chelsey Branham is raising a decent amount for the lone competitive State House race in Oklahoma, and is also currently leading her GOP opponent Eric Roberts in the fundraising department. Really nothing to see at this moment.
Utah:
HD-33 (R, Craig Hall, D+1, Tilt R): UT-04
Fatima Dirie (+): $45,137, https://www.votefatima.com/ GOP: Craig Hall: $108,013
HD-38 (R, Eric Hutchings, R+6, Tilt R): UT-04
Ashlee Matthews (+): $42,277, http://www.ashleeforutah.com/ GOP: Eric Hutchings: $65,407
HD-43 (R, Cheryl K. Acton, R+12, Tilt R): UT-04
Diane Lewis (-): $66,522, https://dianelewiscampaign.com/ GOP: Cheryl K. Acton: $27,818
HD-45 (R, Steven Eliason, R+8, Lean R): UT-04
Wendy Davis (+): $58,771, https://www.wendydavisutah.com/ GOP: Steven Eliason: $66,179
HD-47 (R, Steve Christiansen, R+15, Lean R): UT-04
Scott Bell (+): $26,355, https://scottbellforutahhd47.com/ GOP: Steve Christiansen: $51,767
Summary: The 2020 General and the Received Contributions reports show that the Democratic nominees in HD-33, HD-38, HD-43, and HD-45 have all broken the $40,000 fundraising mark, which is generally the amount that a winning State House campaign should raise. With the exception of HD-43, however, all of the Democratic nominees are being outraised by their respective GOP incumbents. The one race to pay attention to in this state is HD-47. The Democratic nominee, Scott Bell, has posted a respectable fundraising amount, but is being outraised by the district’s GOP incumbent, Steve Christiansen, according to the total fundraising numbers calculated from the 2020 General and the Received Contributions reports. Small dollar donations to Scott Bell’s campaign can close the moderate fundraising gap and noticeably improve our chances of flipping this district.
South Carolina:
SD-41 (R, Sandy Senn, R+6, Tilt D): SC-01
Sam Skardon (+): $307,203, https://samskardon.com/ GOP: Sandy Senn: $200,592
SD-43 (R, George Campsen, R+8, Lean R): SC-01
Richard Hricik (+): $239,872, https://www.richardforsc.com/ GOP: George Campsen: $283,375
SD-44 (R, OPEN, R+10, Lean R): SC-01
Debbie Bryant (+): $103,469, https://www.debbieforsenate.com/ GOP: Brian Adams: $41,459
HD-15 (D, J.A. Moore, R+3, Tilt D): SC-01
J.A. Moore: $39,802, https://jamooreforsc.com/ GOP: Samuel Rivers Jr.: $9,349
HD-114 (R, Lin Bennett, R+11, Lean R): SC-01
Ed Sutton (+): $91,037, https://suttonforsc.com/ GOP: Lin Bennett: $54,021
HD-115 (D, Spencer Wetmore, R+7, Lean D): SC-01
Spencer Wetmore (+): $97,688, https://spencerwetmore.com/ GOP: Josh Stokes: $10,586
HD-116 (D, OPEN, D+1, Lean D): SC-01
Chardale Murray (-): $7,316, https://murrayschouse116.wixsite.com/website GOP: Carroll O’Neal: $795
HD-117 (D, Krystle Matthews, R+3, Lean D): SC-01
Krystle Matthews (+): $35,681, https://www.krystleforsc.com/ GOP: Jordan Scott Pace: $18,746
Summary: Over in the State Senate races, Sam Skardon and Richard Hricik have posted excellent fundraising numbers in their SD-41 and SD-43 runs so far, according to the October 10 reports. However, Richard Hricik is still getting outraised by the SD-43 GOP incumbent George Campsen. The State House races also have some notable observations. Democratic nominees Ed Sutton in HD-114 and Spencer Wetmore in HD-115 have posted exceptionally high fundraising numbers in the October 10 reports. Spencer Wetmore’s performance can somewhat be explained from her previous victory in a special election for this particular State House district. Overall, all of our candidates running in the races listed in this state are in good standing.
New Mexico:
SD-29 (R, Gregory Baca, EVEN, Lean R):
Paul Baca (-): $82,389, https://paul4nm.com/ GOP: Gregory Baca: $45,110
SD-30 (D, OPEN, D+1, Lean D):
Pamela Cordova (-): $145,642, https://www.pamcordovaforsenate.com/ GOP: Joshua A. Sanchez: $42,634
SD-35 (R, OPEN, R+6, Lean R):
Neomi Martinez-Parra (+): $165,108, https://neomi4nmsenate.com/ GOP: Crystal Diamond: $187,093
HD-53 (D, Willie Madrid, EVEN, Lean D):
Willie Madrid (-): $31,733, http://www.williemadrid53.com/ GOP: Ricky Little: $30,112
HD-63 (R, Martin Ruben Zamora, R+5, Lean R):
Randal Brown (-): $96,359, https://drbrownfornm63.com/ GOP: Martin Ruben Zamora: $69,541
Summary: According to the Second General reports, Pamela Cordova and Neomi Martinez-Parra, the Democratic nominees in SD-30 and SD-35, have raised over $100,000 for their State Senate campaigns, which is generally the goal for a winning State Senate campaign in New Mexico to achieve. However, Neomi Martinez-Parra is still getting outraised by her GOP opponent, Crystal Diamond. We are in very excellent condition for the two State House races listed for this state, as both our Democratic nominees have raised over $31,000 for their campaigns, which is generally the winning baseline for a State House campaign to achieve. In short, we are making stellar progress in the state legislative races in New Mexico.

And thus we come the end of this step’s second quarter. The third quarter will identify key districts in Texas, Ohio, Illinois, Florida, and Indiana. After that, the final quarter will cover competitive districts in California, Colorado, Nebraska, and Montana. So stay tuned! Any corrections or comments are welcome.

2020.10.14 20:10 AndyJPuente Biggest 2020 NBA free-agency, draft and trade decisions for the Brooklyn Nets

Source: https://www.espn.com/nba/insidestory/_/id/28953850/biggest-2020-nba-free-agency-draft-trade-decisions-all-30-teams
Offseason focus
Draft assets
Cap space breakdown
Team needs
Extension eligible: Jarrett Allen (rookie) and Rodions Kurucs
Free-agent status

The cost of free agent Joe Harris

Joe Harris is a 3-point specialist -- shooting 38.5%, 41.9%, 47.4% and 42.1% from distance in his four years in Brooklyn -- but he has also developed a more complete overall game. This season, Harris has grabbed five or more rebounds 27 times, dished out four or more assists 12 times and grabbed two or more steals in 10 games.
Harris is an unrestricted free agent and will see an increase in his $7 million salary. The question becomes how much Brooklyn is willing to pay in a luxury tax penalty.
Harris will receive at least $9.3 million, the midlevel exception that teams over the cap have available. But would a rebuilding team with cap space such as Atlanta, Charlotte, Detroit or New York give him a more substantial offer in the range of $14-16 million?
Would the Nets allow him to shop for an offer from another team with the risk of losing him? GM Sean Marks told the YES Network that Harris ranks at the top of their offseason list of things to do.
"Priority No. 1," Marks said. "It's that simple, yeah. I think we've talked about [it] plenty of times. We're obviously very proud of where Joe has come from."
Brooklyn would have only the $5.7 million tax midlevel if Harris does not return. They would also lose a possible future trade asset that cannot be replaced. Harris has already established Bird rights with Brooklyn, meaning that the Nets can pay him up to 30% of the cap (which is very unlikely) and an additional five years.
If the luxury tax comes in at $132.7 million, the Nets would start the offseason $9.9 million over the threshold and with a $15.9 million penalty. A Harris contract starting at $12 million would push the Nets' tax bill to $49.9 million -- a combined $46 million in 2020-21 to retain the 28-year-old.
While a $50 million tax bill is substantial, Durant and Irving did not commit last summer for ownership to now go into cost-cutting mode.

The expiring contract of Spencer Dinwiddie

What the future holds for Spencer Dinwiddie is uncertain for multiple reasons. Dinwiddie is technically under contract for the next two seasons. However, because he has a $12.3 million player option for 2021-22, the Nets' guard will all but certainly become a free agent next offseason.
This past season, Dinwiddie became the ultimate insurance policy in the absence of Irving. He missed the Orlando restart after testing positive for the coronavirus, but before that, Dinwiddie in 64 games, including 49 starts, averaged a career high 20.5 points and 6.8 assists.
At a minimum, 10 teams are projected to have cap space of $15 million or more in the summer of 2021. Dinwiddie has established himself as a starting point guard, and the thinking is that he will see a more lucrative payday compared to what Brooklyn can offer him in an extension.
Starting in December, the Nets can offer a four-year, $62 million extension with a starting salary of $13.7 million in 2021. Dinwiddie does have Bird rights, and Brooklyn can offer him more years and money when he does become a free agent. However, is the front office comfortable paying Dinwiddie and starting point guard Irving a combined $50 million-plus per year in salary?
On the court, there is only a 20-game (8-12 in those games) and 305-minute sample to evaluate whether the Irving-Dinwiddie pairing works.
Factor in the emergence of LeVert, and Dinwiddie is a sixth man. Will he sacrifice in a contract year?
And what exactly is his trade value if Brooklyn makes him available? While a team trading for Dinwiddie inherits Bird rights, the same extension restrictions would apply (but six months after the trade).
Would a team give up a player and draft assets for someone it can sign with cap space? Or does a team that doesn't have cap space sacrifice assets without knowing if Dinwiddie will commit in the long term after the season?
Of course, the Nets can do nothing with a player as talented as Dinwiddie, and that's my recommendation: Let the 2020-21 season play out with a healthy Durant and Irving surrounded by the best possible roster.

The search for a third star

This is not where you will see a case made that Brooklyn should pursue the likes of Bradley Beal and Victor Oladipo. Instead, I'm making the argument that the third star Brooklyn wants already resides in their own locker room.
If the 51-point performance against Boston in early March was not confirmation, the play of LeVert in Orlando cemented why Brooklyn should not search externally for the third star to complement Durant and Irving. In the games in Orlando, including the playoffs, LeVert averaged a team-high 25.0 points, while grabbing 5.0 rebounds and handing out 6.7 assists.
Without Dinwiddie and Irving in Orlando, LeVert also showed how versatile he is, starting at point guard in the playoffs.
Durant indicated he has noticed. "He is definitely better than I thought," Durant said on a recent "Play for Keeps" podcast, "He's different. He can score that thing. He can pass it. He's quick. His thing is about being efficient, and I think that's what you're seeing. The shots he's taking now, it's like all of his lane. Not a lot of 3s, a lot in the midrange, getting to the cup. I think his IQ is what surprised me the most."
Compared to Oladipo, who is a free agent in 2021 and will command a big payday, LeVert is under contract through the 2022-23 season on a team-friendly salary: $16.2 in 2020-21, $17.5 in 2021-22 and $18.8 million in 2022-23.
If we remove LeVert, the list of Nets assets includes Dinwiddie, Harris (if he re-signs), Jarrett Allen, Taurean Prince and a first-round pick in each of the next seven years. But of course, if the Nets are looking to become buyers on the trade front, it comes with the risk of their depth now getting gutted.
To build that depth, the Nets have shown strong scouting acumen in finding under-the-radar players: Harris, Dinwiddie, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot and Chris Chiozza are among the recent success stories.

Offseason cap breakdown

For the first time since GM Sean Marks took over in 2016, Brooklyn will be in the luxury tax. Including the first-round pick owed from Philadelphia, the Nets have $144 million in committed salary, $12 million above the luxury tax line.
The Nets will have the $6.0 million taxpayer midlevel exception available.

The resources available to build the roster

Dates to watch

Restrictions

Extension candidates

Allen is extension eligible and could sign a contract for four years (or five, but for only the max) when the moratorium is lifted on Oct. 23. Allen proved he is extension worthy during the seeding games and playoffs. In six seeding games before the postseason began, the center averaged 15.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.2 blocks.
However, because he will become a restricted free agent in 2021 and the team has the ability to match, Brooklyn could stay in a holding pattern until Allen agrees to a team-friendly extension (think $12-14 million) or wait until he becomes a free agent. As mentioned regarding Dinwiddie, teams should be flushed with cap space, but Allen is at a disadvantage because of the restricted tag.
There is a pattern of Brooklyn extending players on the last year of their rookie contract but on their own terms -- for example, LeVert's and Prince's deals could be considered team-friendly contracts. While a new contract would not impact the Nets' luxury tax bill in 2020-21 because it starts in 2021-22, Allen would become close to untradable because of the poison-pill restriction in his extension.
Besides Allen and Dinwiddie, former second-round pick Rodions Kurucs is extension eligible.

The draft assets

The Nets traded their own 2020 first-round pick to Atlanta (it now belongs to Minnesota) as part of the cap-clearing trade to remove Allen Crabbe's salary.
Brooklyn did replace its own first when it acquired the 76ers' 2020 first during last year's draft.
Here's how ESPN's Jonathan Givony and Mike Schmitz have Brooklyn selecting in October:
• No. 19 (via PHI): Jalen Smith PF Maryland
• No. 55 (via DEN): Kenyon Martin Jr. SF/PF IMG Academy
Brooklyn has its own first in future years.

Quick Trends: Aggies are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game. Aggies are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games after allowing less than 275 total yards in their previous game. Aggies are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 conference games. Aggies are 17-8 ATS in their last 25 games on grass. Crimson Tide are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 conference games. Crimson Tide are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game.
Texas A&M busted up Vanderbilt 17-12 last weekend as quarterback Kellen Mond aired it out for the small 189 yards and got himself a touchdown. A&M running back Isaiah Spiller grabbed himself the small 117 rushing yards in the unwatchable low scoring game.
Alabama smacked up Missouri 28-19 Bama quarterback Mac Jones passed for 249 yards and put 2 in the end zone, while running back Najee Harris put in his 98 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. This week both teams meet up for a good ol boys SEC game in Tuscaloosa.
The Aggies are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 conference games, but on the flipside 1-4 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. Alabama has gone 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games in October, but just 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games following a straight up win, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 conference games and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games against a team with a winning road record.
The Tide can go get it done but reports coming in from our affiliates are ambivalent to give all those points away on the road at best, our consensus is going with Texas A&M to cover the chalk mainly because of the edge at quarterback.

Cyclones are 7-1-2 ATS in their last 10 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game. Cyclones are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a home underdog. Sooners are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game. Sooners are 3-7 ATS vs. a team with a losing record. Cyclones Team Leaders: Touchdowns Breece Hall 4 Rushing Breece Hall 257 Passing Brock Purdy 356 Receiving Xavier Hutchinson 69 Sacks JaQuan Bailey 3.5 Interceptions Mike Rose 1
Oklahoma ran through Missouri State 48-0 in their opener, then hit a wall on Saturday with a depressing 38-35 loss against K-State as a insanely obnoxious 28-point favorite. Quarterback Spencer Rattler some how passed for 387 yards with four touchdowns even with 3 costly interceptions.
Iowa State laid down against Louisiana Lafayette in their opener, and bumbled a cover against a suspect TCU team, final 37-34 as 3.5-point road favorite they should have had no problem with a soft line like that. Quarterback Brock Purdy got off 211 yards 1 touchdown, running back Breece Hall got 154 yards and 38 attempts and 3 trips to the end zone.
The Sooners are paying the books at 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games as a favorite, 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games overall has Vegas building skyscrapers with bettors money, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 conference games, I mean these guys are a bunch of bums when it comes to getting the money. Now if you've been putting your action on Iowa State as a underdog you've made some cash, 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a home dog, 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 games as an underdog and 15-6 ATS in their last 21 games following a straight up loss, I mean these guys are a golden egg if you play the line right.
MAC is setting the standard and putting the business on the table, sharps and early money aren't making a dent in the line because oddsmakers made a tight one this week. MAC's looking at Spencer Rattle as the x factor, if he steps up this could very well be a easy win + cover for the Sooners, Iowa State is getting the 7.5 and MAC smells something fishy about the hook, play the over set at 62.5 up from 61.5 and don't be scared to give the points because Rattler will look like a stud this week against a mediocre Cyclone D. watch "Brock Purdy Lips" gets manhandled by DaShaun White.
Iowa State Injury Report - T. Milton WR - Ques Sat - Milton was unavailable for the previous game due to a lower-body injury and it is unknown if he will line up versus Oklahoma on Saturday. R. Hudson OL - Ques Sat - Undisclosed T. Downing OL - Ques Sat - Downing missed the last game with an ankle injury and his status for Saturday's contest against Oklahoma remains up in the air.
MAC's Game Prediction: Oklahoma 45 Iowa State 24 Play: Over 62.5 Play: Oklahoma -7.5
No. 7 Auburn (1-0) at No. 4 Georgia (1-0)
Auburn made bacon out of the boys down in Kentucky 29-13 last weekend to cash in as a 6.5-point home favorite, big Bo Nix passed for 233 yards with 3 touchdowns, no interceptions, and looking like a god damn stud averaging 6.8 rushing yards a game, MAC would let his daughter and mother date a guy like this, and they got wide receiver Seth Williams coming in catching six passes for 112 yards 2 TDs.
Georgia looked like decent, getting through Arkansas 37-10 last weekend was impressive but not really, QB Stetson Bennett threw for 211 yards with 2 touchdowns and surprisingly no picks. Georgia scored 22 third quarter points to take control after going into the half down 7-5, now that could be good football but MAC is saying fluke and calling shenanigan's.

Auburn gets the money early in the season and has gone 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games overall, 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 October games, but be cautious because Bulldogs are money makers too, 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games following a ATS loss and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 home games against a team with a winning road record.
The Tigers just can't get through Georgia and have sucked against the spread going 0-6 ATS in their last 6 meetings in Georgia and 1-6 ATS in the last 7 meetings. Now MAC would normally stay away from a game like this but it's hard to bet against big Bo Nixon and that up tempo offense. Georgia -6.5 is a suckers bet, take those points and ride Bo's back like the rest of the Tigers!

2020.09.16 00:39 Bluecat0817 I got bored and wrote an entire episode. Featuring Lumity, shapeshifters, Brendon Urie, Hooty, and even more things that my computer will underline.

I should probably be doing my Latin quiz right now, but this is way more important, so...
Alright. So, this episode starts off with Amity and Luz talking. Luz tells Amity that back on Earth, they have this thing called "friendship bracelets." Luz and Amity make them for each other.
Soon, Hooty busts in through the door, and informs Luz that there is going to be a concert in the Boiling Isles, featuring Stephen Crims, Waldo Kenslee, Jen Warlok, Ron Rassy, and the biggest name: Maison Porter. Porter blew away the crowd with his singing, and he's voiced by Urie. I'll explain my reasoning later.
Anyways, Maison arrives at the Owl House. Hooty hits him in the face, but it doesn't faze him. Luz seems to be a little interested in him, and vice versa. Now, you've probably already downvoted, but keep reading until the end. Maison gets familiar with a couple of the witches, but he notices how awkward Amity acts around Luz, based on this exchange.
>Luz: Hey Amity! You look great today! > >Amity (blushing): T-tt-thanks! You also are greating look today! > >Luz: Huh. That was weird. > >Maison (suspicious): Yeah. Too weird.
Maison is able to put two and two together, unlike some people. Now, of course, Maison is mad about this. After Luz and Amity have a discussion in which Luz discusses how cute Maison is, and Amity seems visibly heartbroken, Maison looks at her in the hallway and talks to her directly.
>Maison: Look, I know your secret. > >Amity: What? I-I don't know what you're talking about. > >Maison: I know you and I have the same goal here. But stay out of my way. Luz is mine and mine alone. Besides, you're a student. You have other things to do, and you have parents to live up to. Drown out your feelings. It will be better for both of us.
This really hurts Amity's feelings, but she just goes on about with her day.
Later on is the concert. Amity's sitting on a bench away from the concert, obviously upset. Maison performs Girls/Girls/Boys, directed to Luz. Luz, however, is oblivious, and just thinks it's a normal song, despite the fact that there are a ton of pride flags during the performance. Also, Edric and Emira are playing guitar and bass, respectively. Jerbo and Viney are playing drums and keyboard, too. Gus, Eda, and Willow jam to the song, and the rest of the crowd is really into the music. After the song, Eda begins wondering where Amity is, and she and King go looking for her. Meanwhile, Maison takes Luz to a spot by the moonlight. They have a cliche discussion, and it ends with this:
>Maison: It's amazing. Just the two of us, and no distractions. > >Luz: What do you mean, distractions? > >Maison: Well, I was just worried that other people might be interested in you. > >Luz: Oh, no. Don't worry. I may like both girls and guys, but that doesn't mean anyone's interested in me. Honestly, I'm shocked that you are. > >Maison: Well, that's good. Anyways, let's just enjoy the moonlight.
Eda finds Amity, and has a discussion with her.
>Eda: Amity, what's wrong? > >Amity: Look at Maison. He's talented, he's handsome, and he's popular. No wonder Luz likes him. > >Eda: And is that bad? What's wrong with that? > >King: Yeah! Maison's amazing! I'd date him if I were Luz. > >Amity: It's just that, (sigh), I thought there was a spark between us. Look at her! She's so naive and careless! Now look at me. I have so many expectations to live up to, and I can't afford making one mistake. She's perfect, but I'm not. I'm upset that Luz likes Maison, but I sure am not surprised. > >Eda: I feel like you expect me to be shocked at your reveal, but honestly, I'm not one bit surprised. I'm surprised it took you this long to say it. But you're just as good as he is. Sure, he may be popular, but that's not everything. He's never saved Luz's life, never broke a leg to keep her safe, and he never defeated a monster with her. You have. There's so much you have that he doesn't. Besides, he's not like he's transferring to the school. You'll have tons of chances to tell Luz how you feel. It's fine. > >King: Well, I wouldn't say that...
Suddenly, King drags in someone unconscious who looks like Maison. Wait, it is Maison!
>Amity: But he's performing up there! How can he be in two places at once? > >Eda: I don't know.
Eda casts a spell and wakes up Maison.
>Eda: Maison? Maison? > >Reuben: Who's Maison? My name is Reuben Dorin. > >Eda: What do you remember? > >Reuben: Well, I was walking to audition, and then suddenly, I felt stone on my mouth. Before I could figure out what happened, I got knocked out. > >Eda: Stone? On your mouth? This can't be good. > >Amity: What? I've studied tons of monsters, but I haven't heard of this one. > >Eda: It's an Impersonator. Those stone creatures can take the form of someone simply by simply kissing them, forcefully or otherwise. Once they've transformed into that person, they gain all of their abilities and memories. Plus, they retain any and all abilities of someone. > >Amity: Is that why he was interested in Luz? But why her? > >Eda: Once they've transformed into that person, they gain all of their abilities and memories. Luz isn't like anyone else here: she knows a lot about Earth. Reuben, do you know portal spells? > >Reuben: Yeah, I know a couple. I need some information about the place I want to portal to first, though. > >Eda: If Maison gets his hands on some info about Earth, he might be able to create a portal to Earth and wreak havoc there. > >King: We have to warn Luz!
Back to Maison and Luz, but now that we know Maison's true intentions.
>Luz: You know, Maison, why are you interested in me? I don't have anything that someone like you would be interested in. > >Maison: I've always been fascinated with the human world. Humans are amazing, and I believe that us together could be amazing.
Amity, King, and Eda burst in through the bushes.
>Amity: Luz! Don't trust Maison. He's evil, and he only likes you because he's a shapeshifter who wants to shapeshift into you and gain info about Earth! > >Maison: Luz, what is she talking about? That's crazy talk. > >Amity: You have to trust me, Luz! Both of our worlds are on the line. > >Maison: Luz, look at me. I would never do something like that. > >Luz: I don't know, Maison. I trust you, but I trust Amity more. You have been kind of suspicious lately. > >Maison: You said that nobody was interested in you. > >Luz: Huh? > >Maison: Forget it. Come on, Luz!
Maison tries to kiss Luz, but Luz socks him in the face.
>Maison: Alright, then. Guess we have to do it the hard way.
Maison transforms into a stone monster, similar to Urie's look in Emperor's New Clothes.
A fight scene occurs, featuring Maison trying to kiss Luz. Eda tells Luz that she can hold off Maison, and to get far away as possible from him.
Eventually, Amity catches up to Luz, and this conversation occurs.
>Amity: Luz! I'm so happy you're okay! > >Luz: Amity! Shouldn't you be helping Eda? > >Amity: No, she's holding Maison off fine. Anyways, what a wierdo that guy was. > >Luz: Yeah. > >Amity: You know there are people so much better than him for you. > >Luz: Of course. A coat hanger would be better than him. > >Amity: Who knows? The perfect someone could be right under your nose.
Luz looks down, only to find a flower that Amity put there.
>Luz: Aww, thanks Amity! > >Amity: Of course. What else do you expect from me, your perfect someone. > >Luz: Perfect som-wait, hold on. Are you saying-? > >Amity: Whatever you're thinking, it's true. > >Luz: Amity, I had no id- > >Amity: Luz, I know we both feel the same way, so how about we cut to the chase? > >Luz: That would be nice.
Amity kisses Luz, and everything seems perfect. This is a moment that nobody could ruin, except for... Amity? Amity runs in from the bushes.
>Amity: Luz! Luz! > >Luz: Amity? Wait, if you're there, then who's - oh no.
Maison shapeshifts back into stone, revealing he was pretending to be Amity!
>Luz: He kissed you? > >Amity: Yeah, and he's terrible at it! > >Maison: What do you expect? I'm made of stone. But now I have the power to travel to Earth and bring chaos upon it!
Cue more fighting, and eventually Maison shapeshifts into Luz and they get in a scuffle. Amity's stuck in the classic "Real vs. Fake" scenario. Confused between the two Luzes, she asks for something to prove themselves.
The first Luz blows a kiss, but the second Luz shows her friendship bracelet. Amity, knowing the truth, blasts Maison in the chest, severely wounding him.
>Maison: You...may have defeated me..., but you cannot defeat the memories. I still can tear Earth apart, and there is nothing...you...can...do.
Suddenly, Hooty comes bursting in!
>Hooty: Sorry, buddy, but it's time to get hooted!
Hooty plunges through Maison's chest, breaking him into pieces.
>Hooty: What did I miss? > >Eda: A lot.
Hooty carries King back to the concert, and Eda flies Willow and Gus back as well. That leaves Amity and Luz on the bench. Amity begins thinking to herself.
>Amity to herself: Come on Amity, you can do this. She kissed Maison while he pretended to be you, so there's a connection. Just be yourself. > >Amity: Well, that was a weird experience. > >Luz: You can say that again. > >Amity: (hesitating) Well, that was a weird experience. Why'd you want me to do that? > >Luz: Forget it. Anyways, I wonder why Maison impersonated you. Couldn't he just have forced me to kiss him like he did you? > >Amity: When you're bent on one thing, all other things get drowned out, including logic. I should know. > >Luz: What do you mean? > >Amity: Luz, you know how Maison told you about my crush on you? > >Luz: Of course! How'd he come up with that? It just seems so odd. > >Amity: He...didn't exactly pull it out of thin air. > >Luz: Huh? > >Amity: Remember how when Maison impersonates someone, he gains their memories? > >Luz: So... those lies he told me, > >Amity: Weren't lies. Luz, I'm tired of drowning out my emotions. I am head over heels for you. (grabs Luz's hands) Ever since the convention, I've felt a connection between us. (Luz begins to blush a bit) I never thought I'd even be friends with a human, let alone have one turn me from the perfect witch into a complete mess. This is a total new experience for me. (Amity's voice begins to crack a bit.) I always thought that love was just a distraction from important things, like school and my responsibilities. Well, it is, but that's what makes it so special. Luz, you're perfect. There is nobody I want to spend my time with on this island more than you. > >Luz (clearly shocked): Oh, umm...Well, I'm a little surprised. I never thought of us as more than friends, but I'm glad you told me the truth. > >Amity (worried): Are you rejecting me? > >Luz (also worried): No, definitely not. > >Amtiy (relieved): Phew. > >Luz: You've always been by my side, risking life and limb for my well-being. If there was anyone in the isles that could say this to me, I'm glad it's you. You've always been by my side, and I think it's about time that we embrace what we both know is true. > >Amity: Promise not to turn into a stone monster? > >Luz: I promise.
Amity pulls Luz in close and kisses her.
>Luz: You know, the concert's not over yet. > >Amity: How about we enjoy the concert together? No monsters, no secrets, just us. > >Luz: Yeah, that would be nice.
The finale scene features Reuben, now himself, performing Collar Full. During the parts of the song, we see people jamming again, and Gus waving pride flags. Amity talks with Willow during the second instrumental break, between the first chorus and second verse.
>Willow: Huh, so Luz finally figured it out. > >Amity: Yeah. > >Willow: Aren't you worried about your parents? Or school? Or anything? > >Amity: That can wait. Luz is more important.
During the piano part, Luz and Amity look into each other's eyes, and they kiss right at the start of the final chorus.
The episode ends with fireworks which explode in the shape of Luz and Amity's faces, plus a heart in between.
So, that's it. During a school day, in my room, on a Chromebook, I made a full Owl House episode. I take constructive criticism, and can adjust the story as needed.
EDIT: Added a third Lumity kiss, and further explanation in some of the scenes. Plus some Q&A:
Why'd you select Brendon Urie to voice Maison?
Five reasons.
  1. Disney already has ties to him. He worked on Frozen 2. Plus, if SVTFOE can get part of the Holy Emo Trinity, we can get one as well.
  2. Urie's pansexual, and G/G/B is the best song I could choose to describe the scenario Luz was in. The song's about Urie and a girl fighting over the attention of the same girl.
  3. Brendon's a great live performer. He never lip-syncs, and his touring band is amazing. I say touring band because Brendon's the only actual band member left.
  4. Both of the songs I chose are absolute BOPS. Seriously. Please listen to them.
  5. I'm just a big fan of him.
How'd you settle on the names of the performers?
They're all anagrams of Urie's former bandmates: Spencer Smith, Dallon Weekes, Jon Walker, and Ryan Ross. Maison Porter is an anagram of Impersonator, and Reuben Dorin is an anagram of Brendon Urie.
Why'd you make Urie an evil shapeshifter?
I needed some way to be able to get him out of the picture for the big Lumity moment. I figured that making him evil would be the way to go. I chose a shapeshifter because I thought that best explained why he was doing what he was doing. Plus it allowed for the fakeout Lumity kiss.
Why'd you choose the two songs you did?
Again, they're both bangers, but G/G/B very accurately described the plot of the episode up to that point, and Collar Full is a gender-neutral love song. Plus, the album they're on, Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die, has mega LGBT energy. The album title also describes Luz pretty well. And by the way, when I say G/G/B accurately describes the plot, I mean it literally has these lyrics:
>Pose, you've gotta save your reputation > >They're close to finding out about your girlfriend > >But if you change your mind, you know where I am > >Yeah if you change your mind, you know where to find me > >'Cause I don't wanna save your reputation > >And never did I think that I > >Would be caught in the way you got me > >Push another girl aside and just give in > >Girls love girls and boys (Sophisticated, manipulated) > >Girls love girls and boys (Sophisticated, manipulated) > >And never did I think that I > >Would be caught in the way you got me > >But girls love girls and boys > >And love is not a choice > >I am just a villain > >Vying for attention from a girl > >A girl who can't decide > >And here's the reason why > >Girls love girls and boys
Also, Collar Full has these absolutely romantic lyrics.
>Show me your love, your love > >Gimme more but it's not enough > >Show me your love, your love > >Before the world catches up > >'Cause there's always time for second guesses, I don't wanna know > >If you're gonna be the death of me, that's how I wanna go
Why'd you have Hooty be the one to kill Maison, and not Luz or Amity?
I just thought it would be a fitting way. Someone who changes their shape killed by someone who changes their shape.

Mets Rick Porcello (1-4, 6.07 ERA, 43.0 IP) It hasn't been a strong season for Porcello, who owns a 6.38 ERA in his last five starts. But he still has three starts left to turn things around, and the Mets have little choice but to rely on him to do so.
Phillies Jake Arrieta (3-4, 5.54 ERA, 39.0 IP) Arrieta's importance to the rotation intensified with injuries to Zack Wheeler and Spencer Howard. He has a 3.55 ERA in his past two starts. He needs to keep up that pace the rest of the way.

Phillies Spencer Howard (1-1, 5.40 ERA, 16.2 IP) Howard earned his first career win Monday, using his four-pitch mix better than in his first three starts. One thing to watch: Howard's velocity dropped from 95.3 mph in the first inning to 91.9 mph in the fifth.
Mets Seth Lugo (1-2, 2.12 ERA, 17.0 IP) Lugo appeared to tire late in his last outing, pitching into the fourth inning for the first time in two years. He threw 60 pitches in that last go, and he should be good for around 75 against the Phillies.

Critic Reviews

ACG - Jeremy Penter - Unscored
"Avengers is fun for a bit but than just gets lost in weird level design, boring gameplay, spotty performance, and lack of true character."
Chicas Gamers - Alba Nausicáa - Spanish - Unscored
Marvel's Avengers is a game more focused on the future console generation than the present ones and so we can see on the PC version, however, those of us who will play it on current generations can still enjoy it to its fullest. Likewise, developers wanted to cover so much that in the end they failed keep it together. There are still some mechanics that are quite poor and too much content for some newbie players.
Cultured Vultures - Jimmy Donnellan - 6.5 / 10
Marvel's Avengers is held up by a surprisingly excellent single-player campaign and let down by its stagnant gameplay loop and widespread technical issues. We definitely can't do this all day.
Daily Mirror - JC Suttun - 3 / 5 stars
If you have even a passing fondness for these legendary Marvel characters, you'll likely have a blast with Avengers' campaign, but the relentless enticements for virtual wares might put you off hanging around afterwards.
Destructoid - Chris Carter - Unscored
Marvel's Avengers seems like a shoo-in for a future games-as-a-service "bringing up your grades" award. It's rough now, but after some free characters arrive in the mix alongside some quality of life updates and some performance patches, it could be a nice way to spend a weekend with some friends.
Gadgets 360 - Akhil Arora - 6 / 10
It's nowhere as annoying as the problems with combat though. If you can look past the latter — and it's not easy — you'll find a story that's largely well done, especially when it comes to Kamala's role in it. Its best moments are the narrative interludes, be it the early fun, charming, and giddy moments she shares with the Avengers or the quiet moments
Game Informer - Andrew Reiner - 8.8 / 10
The amount of depth can be confusing at first, but you have plenty of reasons to keep playing in the endgame
GameByte - Brett Claxton - Unscored
From what we’ve played of the game it seems like something that fans of the heroes will love, even if it’s just the story mode that you play. The multiplayer elements won’t be for everyone but there’s plenty there to keep coming back to.
GameMAG - Александр Логинов, Азамат Тегаев, Вадим Съедин - Russian - 6 / 10
Marvel's Avengers is a typical holiday blockbuster with bright special effects, explosions, chases and familiar characters, which periodically descends into dullness with boring missions and tasks. Without all this tinsel and service elements, Marvel's Avengers would probably be a much more complete and interesting game. At the same time, Crystal Dynamics managed to create a really interesting character with Kamala Khan, who deserves much more attention than the rest of the Avengers squad.
GameSpot - Phil Hornshaw - Unscored
Crystal Dynamics' take on the Avengers characters and the story therein is compelling, but live service aspects get in the way.
Gamerheadquarters - Jason Stettner - 9 / 10
Marvel’s Avengers is a generally fantastic and expansive experience that can provide countless hours of gameplay.
Gamers Heroes - Blaine Smith - 80 / 100
The future of Marvel's Avengers ongoing success will be completely dependent on the quality and regularity of content. However, as a game available today, it's a solid entry into the loot and shoot RPG space. The single player story is worth the price of admission alone, leaving the fun but dated approach to multiplayer a welcome addition for fans of the looter style approach.
GamesRadar+ - Rachel Weber - Unscored
The missions haven't been incredibly inspiring so far, but I'm hopeful that as my team grows and the challenges build, so will the variety in enemies.
Heavy - Elton Jones - 8.5 / 10
Marvel’s Avengers is still worth a recommendation and looks to be even more worthy as it throws free DLC at players over time.
Hobby Consolas - David Martinez - Spanish - 89 / 100
Marvel´s Avengers is a very ambitious game, with a spectacular single player campaign and multiplayer designed as a MMO, with enjoyable combat system and the promise of lots of content and new heroes incoming. Some missions can get repetitive.
IGN - Tom Marks - Unscored
The fundamentals of Avengers’ beat-em-up combat are a lot of fun in a campaign setting like this, with each mission giving you control of a specific character depending on the story’s needs at any given time.
Inverse - 8 / 10
This could have been a disaster. Thankfully, Avengers is simply a blast to play.
Kakuchopurei - Jonathan Leo - 50 / 100
There are shades and traces of a simple yet heartfelt action game buried underneath Marvel's Avengers' corporate-driven money-grubbing muck that clearly needed a few more months of QA and technical fixing. Until its updates and content elevates the base experience and assuming the Day One/Week One patch fixes a LOT of these game's grievances, you'll have to settle for Earth's Mediocre Heroes.
Metro GameCentral - Unscored
Whether players will be quite as enthusiastic after repeating the same mission objectives for the hundredth time, just in a slightly different location (that still lacks any personality or sense of place) we’ll have to see. But at the moment we can’t help wishing this was a considerably smaller game with fewer heroes and a lot more villains.
MonsterVine - Spencer Legacy - 4 / 5
Marvel’s Avengers is an all-around fun title that does justice to the Avengers name.
PC Invasion - Andrew Farrell - 8 / 10
Marvel's Avengers is a very entertaining game that makes great use of its characters. The PC version gave me some problems and many others are having similar issues, but it's an enjoyable time with a lot of value.
Polygon - Laura Kate Dale - Unscored
OK multiplayer stitched onto a great campaign
Shacknews - Donovan Erskine - 8 / 10
Quote not yet available
Spaziogames - Domenico Musicò - Italian - 7.4 / 10
Marvel's Avengers has a shallow and linear campaign, saved only by a brilliant start and the exciting finale. Multiplayer mode offers a good mission variety, but the success of the game con be already compromised by the repetitiveness and the generic combat system.
Stevivor - Steve Wright - Unscored
All up, Avengers is turning out to be a pleasant surprise so far, a game with more narrative and heart than I expected thanks to a lacklustre beta.
TheSixthAxis - Jim Hargreaves - 7 / 10
Past its flaws and behind the grind, Marvel's Avengers is still a fun superhero brawler that has plenty of room to grow in the coming months.
Worth Playing - Chris "Atom" DeAngelus - 8.5 / 10
Marvel's Avengers is an enjoyable Avengers-themed brawler that's tied to an untested multiplayer mode. If all you want is to play through the video game equivalent of a Marvel movie, then it does an excellent job. If you're hoping for something you can play for infinite hours with constant updates, the truth is that it's too early to tell. What we played was fun for a few hours of co-op, but I have my doubts about its long-term viability. It's by far the best Avengers game ever made, and with the exception of Hulk (whose Hulk: Ultimate Destruction remains the pinnacle of Hulk gameplay), it features the best video game version of the superheroes to date.
XboxEra - Jesse Norris - 8.8 / 10
Despite a rocky reveal Marvel’s Avengers is a fun, and gorgeous game that is a blast to play both solo and with friends. Featuring a campaign with emotional heft and multiplayer that is built to last, it is an easy recommendation for any fan of either the genre or the source material.

2020.09.01 19:02 hamsterjockey Inaugural Season of Free 20 Team Dynasty Roto League on Fantrax Needs One Manager

Edit: League is full.
I'm looking for one manager for a brand new 20-team dynasty roto league. We slow drafted MiLB spots and MLB spots during the offseason and had an owner drop out. Categories were standard 5x5, but with the shortened season, we are replacing QS with IP, WHIP to BB/9 and Wins to H/9. Rosters are 26 MLB players and 25 MiLB players with 7 IR spots (was 5, but added two extras). We will revert back to the previous settings next year.
League is free and hosted on Fantrax. We will use Slack for league chattecommunication. 5 OF spots, 5 SP and 4 RP spots. First Year Player Draft order will be reverse order of standings for next year and the draft will be at a much later date. If the season is not completed, then the FYPD order will be randomized.
All team names need to be named after an MiLB team because MiLB team names are fun and awesome.
Highlights of team is as follows:
Joey Bart, Anthony Rendon, David Fletcher, Joey Gallo, Max Kepler, Will Smith (C), Jarred Kelenic, George Valera, Shane Bieber, Triston McKenzie, Sandy Alcantara, Spencer Howard and Frankie Montas.
PM if interested.

2020.08.23 22:39 KingKadabra [Request] a TV Series based on my past watched shows

I am looking for suggestions on tv series that I can binge or watch now if it's currently running. I have three favorite shows that I currently re-watch that have similar trends and would love a suggestion based off of them. Thank you!
Early Edition Gary Hobson is startled to open his door one day to find a cat sitting on a newspaper, a newspaper that has a publishing date of the next day. With the future's headlines running through his head, he tries to save the lives of as many people as he can. And this happens every day.
The Dead Zone Following a car crash that leaves him in a coma for six years, Johnny Smith awakens to find that he has the gift/curse of second sight. With the assistance of friend Bruce Lewis, average citizen Johnny usually gets pulled into mysteries he's only able to help authorities solve because of his newfound ability.
Psych Shawn Spencer happens to possess some uncanny powers of observation thanks to his father, Henry, a former police officer who taught his son to remember even the smallest details of his surroundings. When Shawn is accused of committing a crime that he actually solved, he convinces the cops that he's a psychic -- and with the reluctant help of best friend Gus, Shawn starts solving cases for a skeptical but increasingly impressed police force.
